Tornado in Oklahoma

If you are passionate about these meteorological phenomena, surely you want to know if there is any possibility that some F5 is formed around these parts, right? It would be great to see some, as long as it was formed in places where no one was in danger.

Can there be tornadoes in Spain? Yes of course, but none compared to those that can be seen in the US.

The United States, especially Oklahoma, is known for the extreme weather events that occur there, including tornadoes. Each year several are formed that leave the hunters surprised. They are very beautiful phenomena, but also potentially devastating, so much so that if you have the opportunity to go to those places, you never have to get closer than 2km.

In Spain tornadoes do not go beyond the F1 category. They do some minor property damage, but nothing serious. However, the possibility of it forming one as intense as those in North America is extremely low, but real, according to Jerónimo Lorente, professor of meteorology at the University of Barcelona.

In our lands, however, there are very frequent waterspouts. They usually form in the Mediterranean, under the base of cumuliform clouds, especially after the end of summer. They have many characteristics in common with tornadoes, but the main differences are that waterspouts stay in the sea, and the wind speed is much lower (between 110 and 130km / h).

Even so, the Spanish geography has also seen devastating tornadoes, such as the one that occurred in March 1671 in Cádiz. It is estimated that it had magnitude F4. It is true that it has been a long time, but that does not mean that it cannot happen again.

I would love to see the formation of an F5 tornado, how about you? At least for now, we will have to settle for F1, as well as waterspouts.
