What everyone should know about desert climate

Desert

When we think of desertsNormally the dunes of the Sahara desert come to mind, or the landscape that can be seen in some parts of Mexico. In both places, it is certainly very hot during the day, but at night the temperature drops drastically.

To know why, I invite you to read this article that we have prepared about different things that everyone you should know about the desert climate.

There are cold deserts

Yes, if you thought that there were only deserts in which there was a lot, a lot of heat, you were wrong. On planet Earth there are others in which you must wear, yes or yes, thermal warm clothing, especially if you are a cold person like me, that when the temperature drops below 10ºC you start to need a good jacket.

These deserts are divided into two: the cold, which are the Gobi (Mongolia and China), Tibet, the Great Nevada Basin and the Puna; and the polar, which as its name indicates, are at the Poles. The average temperature of the year is around -2ºC in the case of cold deserts, and -5ºC in polar deserts.

There is life in the deserts

Very little, but there is. Of course, they are not usually found in the middle of the desert, but rather in areas near the water. Among the animals we find the scorpions, camels, bobcat, coyote, rattlesnake, Or the desert tortoises; and of plants we have many species of Acacia, like A. tortilis, the Baobab (Adansonia) or the Desert rose (Adenium obesum).

At night it's very cold in the deserts

This is so because, in the absence of vegetation and clouds, during the day the soil stores heat rapidly, but at night it gets lost just as fast. Thus, the temperature can even drop below 0ºC.
