Taking the car on a rainy day can be a very pleasant experience for some, as it makes them feel calmer and more relaxed, while others do not like it. However, if there is something we have to do it is always respect road safety regulations, and especially on days when the rain falls.
To avoid problems, we offer you a series of tips for driving in the rain.
Keep a safe distance
It is the most important thing. If the one in front hits the brakes, your car must have enough space to stop in time. Roads when it rains can be very slippery, so it is advisable to leave several tens of meters between cars. For example: uterine
- If driving on a road whose maximum speed is 90km / h: the safety distance must be 81 meters.
- If driving on a road whose maximum speed is 100km / h: the safety distance must be 100 meters.
- If driving on a road whose maximum speed is 120km / h: the safety distance must be 120 meters.
Avoid puddles
Although they seem shallow to you, avoid them. Puddles prevent the tires from adhering well to the road, to the point that sudden braking would cause hydroplaning, and you could lose control of the vehicle.
Check the condition of the brushes
While driving it is very important to be able to see, so if you have to drive in the rain make sure the windshield wipers are in perfect condition.
Put the lights on
When it rains, visibility is usually low or even very low, so you must turn on the low beams, and if you hardly see anything, also the rear fog lights so that other drivers see you and thus avoid an accident.
With these tips, you can drive in the rain without having to worry 🙂.
