June Sayings

June landscape

Time goes by very fast sometimes, to the point that you can spend six months almost without realizing it. Thus, as if it were the blink of an eye, we are already in June, in the sixth month of the year. It seems incredible that just nothing ago we protected ourselves from the cold, and now we are about to start the summer, the warmest season.

There are many sayings of June, and all of them really interesting and curious. If you want to know them, don't miss this special in which, in addition, I will tell you what this month has in store for us in terms of temperatures and rainfall.

June, first month of summer heat

June is a month in which both minimum and maximum temperatures they start to rise considerably, especially in the center and in the Mediterranean region of the country, where the values are already between 20 and 30º (or more in some parts of the south of the Iberian Peninsula). In the rest, the mercury in the thermometer stays around 15 and 25ºC.

This month is quite calm in much of the country, but very hot in some places, as we have seen. To give us an idea, in June 2015 we had an average temperature of 22,5ºC (having as a reference period: 1981-2010), which was 1,4º more than usual. In many areas the thermal anomalies exceeded 2ºC, for example in some points of the center and the western part of the peninsula, as you can see in this image:

As for rainfall, we usually think that it is a very dry month, but the truth is that depending on where you are it can rain more, or less. For example, and continuing with the example of June 2015, the communities where it rained the most are those located in the center and northeast of the peninsula, while in the rest the rainfall was lower, to the point that there were some communities in which it did not rain, as in the Canary Islands. Although it is a more or less stable month, you know what they say »until May 40 do not take off your coat», And it is that there may still be the occasional spring precipitation, which could be accompanied by a slight (and brief) drop in temperatures. But what other sayings are there for the month of June?
