Winter is hitting the United States hard. The Northern Plains, Great Lakes region, and the Northeast interior have already been covered in snow brought by the winter storm Argos, the first of the season that arrived in the American territory last Friday.
Since then, there have been gusts of wind from 48 to 64km / h. Sufficient speed to force you to protect yourself as much as possible from the cold and frost.
While winter is slowly coming to Europe, in the northern half of the United States it has already made an appearance, leaving more than a foot of snow in parts of the Rockies. But he has not only passed through there, but has also been seen in Nebraska, South Dakota, northwestern Iowa, Minnesota, Michigan, and the extreme north of Wisconsin, where the first frosts of the season have occurred.
During the weekend and for several days a low pressure system will bring cool air from Canada, which will allow frosts to continue to occur and landscapes to continue to look white for a while longer. But not only that, but also the humidity that surrounds Québec will also bring snow over the higher elevations in the northeast and lower elevations in the interior from Pennsylvania to the Mohawk Valley and northern New England.
The total snow that has fallen so far is as follows:
- Wyoming and southern Montana: 10 to 20 inches (25 to 50cm).
- Idaho near Island Park: 7,5 (19cm).
- Utah: 9 (23cm).
- Colorado near Skyway: 12,5 (32cm).
- Nebraska near Harrison and Noth Platte: 5 (13cm).
- South Dakota near Lead: 4,5 (11cm).
- North Dakota at Ellendale: 3,5 (9cm).
- Minnesota near Wilton: 2 (5cm).
Without a doubt, a very interesting start to winter.
