In Catalonia the temperature will increase by 0,8ºC in the next ten years according to the third Report on Climate Change in Catalonia (TICCC), which could skyrocket heat wave deaths from 50 / year today to 2500 by 2050.
But they will not only have to deal with this problem, but also with the possible disappearance of the beaches, since, according to the report, by the end of the century up to a fifth of the beaches will require additional maintenance actions.
In addition, the temperature could rise 1,4ºC as estimated by a total of 140 scientists who participated in the report. It may not sound like much, but in reality, if the insects that cause such serious diseases as dengue or malaria were to arrive and cause many problems.
If the mercury in the thermometer remains higher than normal for longer than usual, then more forest fires will inevitably occur. The heat and drought are typical of the Mediterranean, but with an increase of 1,4ºC, the risk of fires will be much higher.
Regarding the rains, It is estimated that by the middle of this century there will be a decrease with medians close to -10% in spring, summer and autumn, which is when more water is needed, especially in the warmer months due to the arrival of tourists.

Also, as the winters are getting milder and the summers hotter, jellyfish and toxic algae have an easier time multiplying, while some species typical of the Catalan coast are moving north.
However, even taking everything into account, greenhouse gases continue to be emitted. Although Catalonia has tried to analyze the impact of climate change and implement mitigation and adaptation policies to try to counteract it, according to the report, the real effects of these measures taken are limited.
