We have lost control of climate change

Climate change effects

Climate change is a problem that would not be so serious if human beings had learned to take care of the planet and not destroy it thinking that its resources are unlimited. The continuous emission of greenhouse gases, among which are carbon dioxide and methane, has caused the natural balance to be lost, to the point that we have managed to enter a new geological era on Anthropocene.

Although measures could be taken to prevent the effects of climate change from being devastating, they they would not serve to stop it according to a study by experts from the United States and Germany that has been published in the journal 'Nature'.

"The window of opportunity," named after the scientist and one of the study authors Robert Pincus of the University of Colorado at Boulder, is closing. If we want to avoid that the average temperature of the planet rises more than 1,5 degrees Celsius, we would have to act as soon as possible and stop using fossil fuels and other pollutants. And even so, it would be difficult if a two or three degree warming did not occur.

Taking this into account, it is important to understand that it is becoming urgent for humanity to be aware of what is happening to the Earth's climate, since otherwise many lives could be threatened as the temperature increases and the thaw accelerates.

El study, based on direct observations of climate change and on the study of the capacity of the oceans to absorb carbon and particles floating in the atmosphere, could be taken as a warning. A warning that we have little time left to take really effective measures that serve so that towns and cities can have at least one opportunity to adapt to an increasingly changing world.
