If you like tornadoes, surely you want one to form in Spain, right? And it is that when you know that in the United States about 1000 of these incredible cyclones are formed each year, makes you want to buy a plane ticket to El Corredor de los Tornados just to contemplate them, even just once.
But, although in our country there are not the most suitable conditions to see an EF5, yes you can see tornadoes in Spain. What is difficult to know the where and when.
And the thing is, these phenomena can occur at any time of the year, and they can also occur both during the day and at night; that is to say, one can surprise us at any time. Of course, according to data from the AEMET, in Spain they occur more frequently between the months of September to December, and towards the afternoon hours.
In our country, it is difficult for tornadoes to form in the United States. In fact, to date only those between EF0 and EF3 at various points in the lower half of the peninsula, and in the east of the country including the Balearic Islands.
Historic tornadoes in Spain
The most important tornadoes observed in Spanish territory were of category EF3, and they occurred in these places:
