A upside down rainbow? Is that possible? Well, although until now it never crossed my mind that this rare meteorological phenomenon could exist, the one also known as the Circumzenithal arch is not the work of some joker's photoshop, but it is something very real.
The photo above was taken in England, near Cambridge. However, it is unusual for this phenomenon to take place beyond the North Pole. The appearance of this type of arco iris -One of the many optical illusions which take place because of the sun's rays - in Europe it is attributed by experts to the worrying climate change in which the Earth is immersed ... so it is not as pleasant as it seemed at first.
El inverted rainbow, the only phenomenon capable of drawing a colorful smile in the sky, requires different circumstances to the normal rainbow to form. Sunlight must bounce off ice crystals in the upper atmosphere, which send the sun's rays upward.
