Stones that move alone in Death Valley (California)

Geologists Jim McAllister and Allen Agnew discovered in 1948 a strange phenomenon whose unknowns have not been resolved in more than half a century of research. We are talking about the stones that move alone in the Death Valley Of California.

At first it was thought that the wind could be responsible for the rocks in the area moving by themselves through the extensive sandy area (bottom of an old lake). However, that hypothesis it was completely ruled out, since the paths that the stones follow often intersect and overlap, a situation that would not occur if the wind were moving them.

In this region, one of the most inhospitable on Earth, much research has been done to try to unravel the secret of the stones that move alone, but so far it is not known why this phenomenon occurs ... it has not even been recorded on video.

The most widely accepted hypothesis by scientists to date is that the stones slide through the desert on ice sheets that appear from below the surface periodically, although that does not explain why some stones change direction or even go backwards, retracing their steps…. the mystery remains unsolved.
