The buildings of the future will, in all probability, be very different from what they are today. If we recently learned that in India they are starting to build houses with recycled materials, in Germany they have also started to do something that could completely change the cities, in addition to the lives of many people.

And it is that, until now, buildings were built thinking about their own sustainability, but What if one were made capable of supplying renewable energy to an entire neighborhood? It would be amazing, right? Well, that is the goal that the architect hopes to achieve. Wolfgang Frey, with its Smart Green Tower project, which would come to mean the smart green Tower.

The building was inspired by the lithium-ion batteries Tesla uses in its carsAlso has the collaboration of Siemens and the Fraunhofer ISE Institute for Solar Energy Systems. It will therefore be a futuristic-looking tower with which several dozen people can have clean energy. Where? In the Green Industry Park, Freiburg.

The tower, which will have a height of 48 meters, will be built on a site of 5600 square meters. Once finished, It will consist of 70 homes that will have from one to four bedrooms, in addition to offices.

Its facade will be covered with high-performance solar cell panels, which have an efficiency of more than 21% compared to current equipment. These produce nearly a quarter of a million kilowatt hours of electricity. It will also have lithium-ion batteries integrated into its structure.

In order to supply the entire neighborhood, will use a DC intermediate circuitThis way you can save energy and reduce costs, as the distribution will be balanced and intelligent.

But if this is not enough for you, the Smart Green Tower pretends to be 100% self-sufficient. Within its walls there will be areas dedicated to aquaponics for growing food and raising fish. The water used will in turn serve to cool the batteries, which is undoubtedly very interesting.
