The actor Nikolaj Coster-Waldau, who plays Jaime Lannister from the popular series "Game of Thrones", is a person committed to environmental causes. So much so that was appointed ambassador of Goodwill by the UN, and has participated in an expedition that has taken him to Greenland, the place chosen by Street View to film 360º images to show the effects of climate change.

There, he has collaborated with them in the filming and in a video that we show you below.

Danish-born Coster-Waldau feels especially close to Greenland: his wife, the actress and singer Nukâka Motzfedt, was born in a small town of Uummannaq, located in the northwest of the continent. In this part of the world, the effects of climate change are remarkable. He himself wrote in a article published on the official blog of Google Spain:

Greenland, an area that I consider my second family home, is changing much faster than any other part of the world; In fact, the effects of climate change on this part of the planet are very easy to see: as ice melts and glaciers crumble, places that were previously covered in ice are transformed into desert lands.

At the end of last year the Google Maps team visited the actor and invited him to collect images for Street View, something that would serve to show people what is happening on the continent, since statistics and scientific reports we think are only letters and no real events. In this way, anyone who wants to can see with their own eyes what effects climate change has on Greenland.

As Cosler-Waldau himself said: we are responsible for the protection of this planet. If we do not assume this responsibility, the consequences could be devastating.
