Cars on a highway

Pollution is one of the most serious problems caused by humanity, especially those of us living in the so-called "developed countries." Surely you have read this yourself a lot of times, but have you ever wondered how much cities pollute?

Now Google Earth offers us data on air pollution thanks to an agreement reached with the Aclima company.

Google has been developing applications since its inception in order to enrich the user experience. Proof of this is Google Maps, with which you can easily reach your destination, the Google browser that is very easy to use, and of course Google Earth, an application that allows you to locate any town or city in the world. As well, also wants to help raise awareness about the pollution we generate daily.

Although at the moment it is limited to San Francisco, the bay, the central zone of the valley and Los Angeles, and although it is in an experimental phase, the objective is to be able to serve as a way to anticipate the polluting conditions of the day, as well as to study the nuclei of contamination and remedy them. For example, shows that highways blocked by traffic and traffic on local and downtown streets influence local air pollution patterns.

For now, access to the data is closed, but those investigating air pollution can request access to it by filling out a form. Until now, the company has logged over XNUMX billion air quality data pointsbut in the future it will likely become a reliable source of real-time pollution data.

What do you think of the new Google experiment? Do you think it will be really useful?
