Drones in the field of meteorology

Drones

Drones are unmanned aircraft that are being manufactured and tested in many areas, such as leisure or professional use. We have recently started hearing about the weather drones, and more and more people decide to buy one.

These "planes" can be, in addition to being very entertaining for the hobbyist, useful when studying meteorological phenomena facilitating and improving snowfall forecast, tornadoes or earthquakes.

Dron

Uses of home weather drones

The weather drone for private use can be used both for taking photos and videos on sunny days. Unfortunately, on foggy days for safety reasons, we will not be able to use it, as it could be lost or cause some damage.

Requirements that apply in Spain

In this country there is no law that tells us exactly when and where we can use our drone. But they do make us meet certain requirements both when acquiring it and when using it. Namely:

  • Have more than 18 years
  • The drone must have an identification label
  • The maximum distance you can fly is 500 meters (although it is recommended that you do not exceed 120 meters so that they do not collide with airplanes)
  • For those who weigh between 2 and 25kg, the distance will be indicated

However, it must be borne in mind that, in order not to have problems, it is necessary that let's avoid using it in populated areas, airports, shopping centers, and in general in those places where there may be a large concentration of people, or where our drone could get lost.

These little planes can make us have great moments and enjoy the weather in a special way if they are used properly. But there is still something else that I want to tell you ...

Wing project

These devices can be very important when it comes to saving lives. Google itself presented its particular drone which would be in charge, in the near future and if all the tests are successful, of distribute material and necessary medicines to those who remain isolated after a natural disaster. It is known as the Wing project, which in principle was going to be destined to become air ambulances, bringing defibrillators urgently to victims who were having a heart attack. But after the latest test in Australia, experts saw how drones easily accessed remote areas of the continent.

It's surprising, right?
