If you have an iPhone now you will see what will some corners of the world be like after the melting of the poles caused by global warming thanks to a free app developed by New Yorker Justin Brice Guariglia.
The app, called »After ice»(After the ice in Spanish), it is very interesting, since allows users to see what their world will look like when sea level rises.
Guariglia has used NASA data on levels, geolocation and augmented reality to offer us a vision of the not too distant future of both New York and other cities. Thus, the first image that appears as soon as you download the application is a piece of ice falling off, which is what has been happening for more than a century, although with more frequency in recent decades as the global average temperature increases.
The tool explains that sea level in New York could rise almost six feet (6 feet) by the end of the century, thus submerging the famous sculpture of the Bull of Wall Street or Miami Beach, among others.
»After Ice» is part of the work of Guariglia, who after traveling with NASA in Greenland has used aerial photography as a basis to »paint» the landscapes with a high-tech printer. While he has focused on those places inaccessible to most mortals, the app shows how important they are to better understand global warming and how urgent it is to take effective action to stop it.
