India, the third most polluting country in the world, is ready to do everything possible to reduce its carbon dioxide emissions. One of the measures that he has begun to take is to use indigenous and recycled materials to build green homes.

Why will they change the way they build? The answer is simple: the construction sector is one of the most polluting. And not only that, but they also damage the environment in a brutal way, as forests and jungles are deforested and natural resources are consumed.

India's top builders In this way, they will begin to make at least a fifth of the houses that will be built sustainable between now and 2022. This initiative will not only take care of the planet by giving used materials a second useful life, but will also increase awareness in the country's construction industry. A country whose population is growing very rapidly.

In urban areas alone, some 20 million homes are required to be built, so in order to comply with the Paris Agreement, when the country promised to reduce its emissions by a third, the Ministry of Housing, led by the Leadership Consortium of Sustainable Housing (SHLC) funds the construction of green houses.

These green homes will reduce 0,2 million tons carbon dioxide emissionAs the owners of such homes will save 198 million kilowatts a year in electricity consumption and 108.000 million liters of water.

In the future they hope to offer only green homes, according to Jainin Desai, head of design and sustainability at Mahindra Lifespaces.

Let's hope that sooner or later green houses will be built all over the world.
