Spain is the European country that will suffer the most from the consequences of global warming. The melting of both the Arctic and Antarctica will cause the sea level to rise, inevitably affecting the Mediterranean coast.
High temperatures would have a major impact on crops, so that food production will become increasingly difficult and more expensive. According Greenpeace, Spain is a country in which climate change will have a serious impact.
It is true that the Arctic and Spain are separated by several thousand kilometers, but this polar region cools the planet, so that as the ice melts, the oceans will absorb the heat that previously reflected the ice sheets.
Thus, Southern Europe will be the area most affected by climate change, producing more intense heat waves, increased temperatures, difficulties in accessing fresh water, the entry of new insects and an increase in the number and duration of fires. In this sense, the forest firefighter of the Community of Madrid called Mónica San Martín Molina, said that the fires are increasingly virulent, more devastating, and in 10 minutes a small fire has turned into a huge fire.
It is therefore important protect the arctic, not only because of what may happen in Spain and the world of not doing it, but also because it is still a place where animals, people and a very beautiful landscape live that we could lose if we continue to treat the planet as we do, polluting, deforesting, setting fires and exploiting its resources as if they were limitless.
All of us, to a greater or lesser extent, can and must do something to avoid disaster. Ultimately, today's climate change is being exacerbated by humans.
