Europeans don't believe climate change is man-made

global climate change

Although the effects of climate change are increasingly frequent, intense and, of course, evident to the entire world population, there are people who take weight off the human being in this whole game.

Since Donald Trump has decided to withdraw from the Paris Agreement against climate change, awareness and the need to act against the climate has grown. However, the responsibilities over which the human being believes that action and the origin of climate change are distributed seems to be not well defined. What about people who believe that we are not responsible for climate change?

Europeans take responsibility for climate change

A survey of 10.000 Europeans has been carried out and shows that most of these citizens downplay the role of humans in causing climate change. Only 46% believe that the human hand is the main responsible for this global change, which is the explanation that science gives us. Faced with this scientific explanation, 51% believe that either the change is essentially due to a natural evolution (8%) or is a mixture of the two previous factors (42%) or directly that the change does not exist (a residual 1 %). 2% do not know what to answer.

It is true that there are studies that show the existence of other climate changes throughout the history of our planet. However, The rapidity with which these changes in the climate are happening is not only due to the action of nature. It is the human being who, through the industrial revolution and the increase in greenhouse gas emissions, is causing global warming that triggers a change in the Earth's climate.

To our surprise, Spain is the country that best knows this problem. 60% of Spaniards know that climate change has a human origin and that we are the cause of everything. This study shows that only 18% of Europeans believe that climate change is the biggest problem facing the world today.
