Current climate change is one of the most serious problems that humanity must face. Just like we all make it worse, too all we can make some changes in our daily routine to combat it and, incidentally, take care of the planet a bit.

Therefore, in this article I am going to tell you 6 things that can be done for this purpose, thus reducing our own carbon footprint.

1.- Recycle

Recycling

Plastic containers, bags, cardboard boxes are thrown away every day ... All of this can have a second useful life if they are thrown in the right container. In addition, we can save more than 730 kilos of carbon dioxide per year.

2.- Plant a tree

A tree beautifies the landscape, provides shade and shelter for animals and insects that live or walk on its branches, and last but not least, absorbs a ton of carbon dioxide in its entire life.

3.- Turn off electronic devices

If we leave them in stand-by mode for hours, they will consume up to a 40% of total energy. Therefore, if we unplug them, or turn them off, we will prevent thousands of kilos of CO2 from going out into the atmosphere.

4.- Put low consumption light bulbs

It is true, they are more expensive than traditional ones, but they allow you to save more than 45kg of CO2 per year And, according to the European Commission, we can reduce electricity costs by up to 60 euros.

5.- Use public transport or bicycle

Car

30 grams of CO2 is saved for every 4,5km that is not driven. But if it is done, an average of 2,5kg of CO2. For this reason, it is highly recommended to use more public transport, bicycles or go for a walk.

6.- Do not abuse the air conditioning unit

Air conditioners are very practical in summer, but they consume a lot of energy in addition to emitting 650 grams of CO2 per hour. Therefore, it is better to have it running for a while with the windows and doors closed to prevent the cool from escaping, and when the room temperature is comfortable, turn it off.

With these simple measures to combat climate change, we will contribute our grain of sand to take care of the Earth.
